Why are you taking this course, and what important information will you learn? Topics include: Who are "Mandatory Reporters"? What terms and definitions on child abuse and neglect should I know? What are some pertainent statutes and laws? What are the major types of abuse and neglect? The training will end with a time for reflection and exploration of community organizations and support systems. Each Module will present assignments to complete, that will cover the topics above. They will take between 30-45 minutes each. By taking this course you will be better prepared to intervene professionally in the life of a child during suspected cases of child abuse.You will also learn important definitions and laws that can reduce liability at your child care center, should an incident of suspected child abuse occur. Finally, you will earn a "Certificate of Completion" for 4 in-service hours.

Assignments 1. Start with Module One. A "Module" is a chapter or unit of study, and takes about 30-45 minutes to complete. Click on the links to the left to begin each Module. Complete a Module once you start it. Links to click on will be in blue and will open web pages for assignments or the instructor's email. 2. Assignments include written paragraphs submitted by email which require 5 to 8 sentences each (spelling and grammer are not counted). Other assignments include independent assignments such as Web Quests (where you will search the internet for information), Self-Tests, Matching & Fill-In-The-Blanks. Extra effort can improve your final score. 3. Each assignment will have its own instructions for completion and submission. When faxing assignments, fax to: 561.383.6956. Othewise, you may email assignments as attachments. Technical Processing: 1. You must have access to the internet, know how use a mouse, open and close web pages, save a page on your desk top, and print & fax a document.If you navagate (or go) to a web page and there is no"To Home Page" button to go back to your first page, all you you need to do is click the back arrow on the very top, left corner of the page to go back a page. 2. CLICK HERE FOR INSTRUCTIONS to save a document on the desktop, print or email documents. It may help you to print and save these instructions. 3. For technical assistance, or if you have any questions you may call your instructor, Nancy Moral at 561.721.3683 or, click here to Email Instructor. You may also click on the following link to chat live with the instructor if she is available: Checklist, Evaluation Rubric & Feedback Form: Checklists (which detail everything you must do to successfully complete the course); an Evaluation Rubric (to see how your work will be graded), and a (required) Feedback Form are available at the end of each Module. To earn your "Certificate of Compleition" for 4 in-service hours, you must score an average total of a 75% (3of 4 points, on average for all activities combined), complete and submit the Feedback form at the end of each Module, and pay the course fee.
